An indispensible resource for the ecologist or climatologist

Combining two usually-separate fields of study is no easy task. Bonan however, takes on this arduous task and accomplishes it admirably. In thoroughly researched and well laid-out chapters, he explains the often overlooked link between climate and ecology in a straight-forward and easy-to-understand way.
Included in the book are many recent (global) climate models and how they (might) affect the world's ecology. Alongside these models, he also reviews and explains--in good detail, but easy-to-read format--every ecosystem, from soils to urban centers and leaf area index to agricultural systems.
The affects climate has on ecology, and vice-versa, is often overlooked (or down-played) in mainstream science, and (graduate) students of either (or a related) discipline would be well-advised to include this book in their library. It uses examples from not only North America (where the author resides), but from all parts of the world, further extending its applicability and value.

This book is excellent
The various chapters go through the mechanism s of the carbon cycle and explain the vital role plants play in storing carbon and how it cycles through the atmosphere
The only problem was some knowledge of calculus is required for some of the chapters
