Miklos Feher is Director of Computational Chemistry at Neurocrine Biosciences, San Diego, California. He has taught various invited lecture courses throughout the world and has published textbooks in the field of physical chemistry.

Great Book for Spectroscopists

I am a graduate student studying Chemical Physics and own many spectroscopy books. This book is the best for giving short and concise introductions to the most important fundamental topics in electronic and photoelectron spectroscopy. Unlike Herzberg or E.B. Wilson text, there aren't many mathematical derivations which is nice if you want to short review on a specific topic and don't want to muck around in the details.
The way the book is broken up into three sections is also very nice in that you can build up to reading and understanding the Case Studies in the last part of the book. I recommend this book to any student that need to know fundamental spectroscopy. If you need to know about photoelectron spectroscopy (my area of research), this is a must have.

Well-written, poorly interpreted for kindle

As far as I've been able to tell so far, this book is well-written and the level is good for a graduate student in spectroscopy. The kindle version has a table of contents, but no chapter breaks that allow the reader to navigate the book. To me, that is a serious oversight, and I hope the publisher considers adding that key feature. I will probably return this and get the paperback version.
